Horsch Maestro planter
Horsch out of Germany gave show-goers a closer look at its patented electric-motor-driven seed meters featured on its Maestro planter launched last fall. Each planter row unit comes with an electric motor that drives the seed meter in place of mechanical chains and sprockets. The system precisely and evenly places the seed in the row at speeds up to 9 mph, which helped the Maestro SW earn the world record for planting 1,110 acres in 24 hours. An extremely small metering disc is designed with open grooves and a scraper attachment for a straight-down release of seed. “The Horsch Maestro is the first planter in the US market to come standard with electric driven metering units, combined with our patented slotted metering disk this allows for a more consistent release of the grain into the seed tube, resulting in a vast improvement of overall planting accuracy,” says Horsch spokesperson Drew Gerber.
