Spectrum Technologies chlorophyll meter
Spectrum Technologies is helping reduce the risk of yield-limiting deficiencies or costly over-fertilizing. The SPAD 502 Plus chlorophyll meter instantly measures the chlorophyll content or “greenness” of a plant when it is clamped over leafy tissue. An indexed chlorophyll content reading is displayed in less than two seconds. The user can assess plants’ nitrogen needs by comparing the in-field SPAD readings to university guidelines. The SPAD 502 Plus can be purchased with a built-in data logger, and measurements also can be geo-referenced.

Application rate controllers by Richway
Richway Industries offers two new rate controllers for fertilizer and chemical application. Both are designed to maintain constant system pressure and application rate per nozzle or row, even as nozzles or rows are shut off.
The Motor Speed Controller (MSC) is designed to control a 12-volt, DC motor of up to 20 amps. It reads system pressure and adjusts motor speed to maintain constant pressure. The display shows percent of motor speed and provides some indication of nozzle blockage.
The Bypass Valve Controller (BVC) controls a servo valve to bypass some material back to the tank in order to maintain constant system pressure. The bypass controller can be used with any type of pump. Ground speed rate compensation is available as an option, using a GPS receiver, for both controllers.

Kencove hydraulic post drivers
Kencove Farm Fence Supplies is showcasing the Vector and Kiwi brand hydraulic post drivers at the show. Vector drivers use a rope system instead of a lifting cable for longer overall life of the machines and lower maintenance, along with an independent post-cap system for safety and control at tough angles.
Kiwi post drivers use a spring-assist system to deliver 120,000 lbs. of driving force upon wood and steel posts in almost any soil condition. Several Kiwi models are available for mounting on trucks, tractors and skid-steers. An optional auger system can be attached to all Kiwi models for fast pilot-hole drilling in tough and rocky soils.

Salford precision tillage tool
Salford has relaunched the RTS tool with a series of features designed to enhance operations. The RTS Fertilizer Applicator and RTS Coulter Chisel are helping to bring tillage equipment into the era of precision farming. These machines feature 500-lb. and 1,000-lb. shanks that can switch between anhydrous application knives and a variety of chisel points. The shank uses a standard two-bolt mount to accept most manufacturers’ wear parts. The shanks feature a single-bolt lock-up to run the machine as the standard RTS. The lock-up features will allow minimum-tillage producers to rip known compaction zones without covering an entire field and then lock up the shanks and continue with the renowned residue processing of the standard RTS.

Mower, baler, carted wheel rake from Vermeer
Vermeer offers several new products to its lineup. The TM 850 Trailed Mower’s heavy-duty design features formed steel tubing to evenly distribute loading and reduce wear and tear on the mower. The 850’s self-aligning driveline ensures smooth, easy mowing around obstacles at all tongue angles. Vermeer’s Rancher 664 baler produces 66-in.-dia., 47-in.-wide bales. The Drop’n’Go bale ejection makes it unnecessary to disengage and reengage the PTO when dropping a bale. The Bale Expert controller provides information, control and operating convenience from inside the tractor cab.
The VR 1224 is the latest addition to Vermeer’s VR carted wheel rake series. The windrow width easily adjusts to conveniently fit the intake of the operator’s baler, while a patented rubber torsion suspension ensures clean hay and extended tooth life.
