Cornstalk baling

VERMEER SHOWCASED its new Super M Cornstalk Special at the Farm Progress show in Boone, IA. The cornstalk baler has a powered feed system to improve flow and consistency of high-volume cornstalk material before it enters the bale chamber. A patented, hydraulically powered wind guard, immediately above the pickup assembly, has evenly spaced star-shaped plates that feed cornstalk material into the bale chamber.

Price of the Super M Cornstalk Special is $53,655. Contact Vermeer Corp., Dept. FIN, Box 368, Pella, IA 50129, 800/370-3659, visit www.vermeerag.com or www.freeproductinfo.net/fin, or circle 102.

Class 9 combine

CASE IH adds a Class 9 combine, the Axial-Flow 9120, to its combine line. The monster harvester has 483 rated hp, maximum power of 523 hp and a 350-bu. grain tank. The 9120 joins the Axial-Flow 7120 (shown above) — a Class 7 combine with 360 rated hp, 415 maximum hp and a 315-bu. grain tank — and the Axial-Flow 8120 — a Class 8 combine with 420 rated hp, 462 maximum hp and a 350-bu. grain tank.

The new Class 7 7088 Axial-Flow combine is the newest member of its 88 series, with 325 rated hp, 375 maximum hp and a 300-bu. grain tank. Combine models for 2009 include the 5088 (which replaces the 2577), with 265 rated hp, 290 maximum hp and a 250-bu. grain tank, and the 6088 (which replaces the 2588), with 305 rated hp, 330 maximum hp and a 300-bu. grain tank.

Prices start at $227,600 for the 5088; $252,500 for the 6088; $260,150 for the 7088; $288,000 for the 7120; and $313,000 for the 8120. Prices for the 9120 were not available at press time. Variable boom suspension

AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY from Bestway, the V-Ride is a variable-ride boom suspension that allows the operator to dial in the suspension system on the boom to tailor the boom ride to specific field conditions. This increases operational speed by 2 to 5 mph, resulting in improved productivity and increased application accuracy. The V-Ride is standard on all 2009 models.

Also standard are new Flow Back boom section control valves with a patented feature that provides rapid shutoff of spray tips when boom sections are shut off. Flow Back valves relieve the remaining pressure in the boom after section valves are shut off. The boom remains full of spray solution, so switching nozzles back on is instant.

Bestway also introduces a 100-ft. boom, called the Pro-100 FiberWorks boom system, for increased productivity. The boom is available for the three largest models of the Field-Pro IV (1,200, 1,600 and 1,850 gal.).

Price of a 1,200-gal. Field-Pro IV with Pro-100 boom is $46,700. Contact Bestway, Dept. FIN, 2021 Iowa St., Hiawatha, KS 66434, 877/390-4480, visit www.bestway-inc.com or www.freeproductinfo.net/fin, or circle 104.

Flexible headers

MACDON'S NEW FD70 FlexDraper header is the company's second generation of flexible draper headers available on 30-, 35- and 40-ft. models. The three-section flex frame allows the header to maintain a consistently close relationship between the knife and reel. The three sections also allow the header to follow ground contours. A uniform feed increases the combine's capacity and decreases shatter loss. The company says producers have seen productivity increases as high as 40% when using the FD70.

Price of the 40-ft., double knife drive FD70 FlexDraper is $76,398. Contact MacDon Inc., Dept. FIN, 10708 N. Pomona Ave., Kansas City, MO 64153, 816/891-7313, visit www.macdon.com or www.freeproductinfo.net/fin, or circle 105.

Soil conditioners

UNVERFERTH EXPANDS its lineup of high-speed, high-acreage rolling harrows with nine new working widths of 47 to 63 ft.

The model 1225 rolling harrow is designed for turning the implement while still in the ground. It is equipped with flanged, four-bolt bearings with triple-lip seal and a 1⅛-in. square bore for withstanding tremendous side-load pressures.

The model 225 features three-bolt bearings, a pressed-on shield, and 1-in. round bore.

Price of a 63-ft. unit is $45,675. Contact Unverferth Mfg. Co., Dept. FIN, Box 357, Kalida, OH 45853, 800/322-6301, visit www.unverferth.com or www.freeproductinfo.net/fin, or circle 106.

Large square balers

NEW HOLLAND says its new BB9000 series large square balers have 5% better bale density with modifications that include larger bale density cylinders, a new door balancer, a longer, lower bale chamber floor, and improved top-fill of the bale. The company says updated density software provides smoother feeding of flakes and better density control. An upgraded double knotter system features new shielding to keep the knotters clean, a large-diameter disc brake, reduced twine tension, and changes to the bill hook profile.

Price: 3 × 3, $91,000; 3 × 4, $136,000. For more information, visit your New Holland dealer, go to www.newholland.com/na or www.freeproductinfo.net/fin, or circle 107.

Wider tillage tool

HCC HAS added a 20-ft. model, the Smart-Till ST 203, to its line of vertical tillage implements. The new Smart-Till has a patented, three-tine helical design. The self-sharpening tines fracture the soil more than 8 in. deep, and they adjust from 0° to 10°. The 20-ft. working width is easily folded to 15 ft. for transport, and tillage gangs and harrows are independently adjustable for changing conditions. Optional rotary harrows are available.

The price of the ST 203, with harrows, is $49,900. Contact HCC Inc., Dept. FIN, Box 952, Mendota, IL 61342, 815/539-9371, visit www.hccincorporated.com or www.freeproductinfo.net/fin, or circle 108.
