In favor of meat

Just wanted to drop you a note to say I really enjoyed your Scoop editorial in the March issue of Farm Industry News on meat and its great value and nutrition [“Why Blame Meat?” page 4]. Compared to the junk most people eat and drink every day, lean meat is an outstanding source of protein and nutrition. As a longtime hog producer, I've spent a lifetime trying to reinforce this, and we've always had to battle the naysayers who think they know better. Keep up the good work.

You made a terrific point concerning meat! Why is it that the American public blames so much on so little? Meat is the least of the public's dietary problems. As far as cost goes, good nutritious food is the least expensive of anything we eat.
