Europe’s Tractor of the Year
The Deutz-Fahr Agrotron 7250 TTV tractor was named the 2013 Tractor of the Year during the EIMA International show. The award is presented annually by a jury of journalists from 22 of the leading farming magazines in Europe. It features a new six-cylinder Deutz TCD 6.1 liter engine. This model is an example of Deutz-Fahr’s new downsizing strategy that uses a high level of technology in design and construction of engines to scale down their size and fuel consumption. The engine can run on biodiesel fuel that is either blended with ordinary diesel or 100% biodiesel.

Nozzle wrench
The nozzle wrench may look simple, but it earned an award in the EIMA Technical Innovations contest for its simple design. The wrench is used to remove sprayer bar nozzles.

Polyethylene fans
Colorful fans made of a polyethylene material to discourage dust accumulation brighten up the show floor.

Deutz-Fahr Agrotron 7250 TTV
The hydraulic system on the Deutz-Fahr Agrotron 7250 TTV tractor has a separate power steering pump and a 44 liter/min. pump to power auxiliary circuits. For the main hydraulic system, there is a load sensing pump rated at 120 liters/min., which feeds four double-acting spool valves as standard and up to seven if requested. There is an option for two more spool valves at the front of the tractor.

New Holland’s T9 exhaust
The position of the exhaust system on the New Holland T9 displayed at the show caught the attention of visitors.

Automatic self-washing sprayer
The new computerized machine washing system on Caffini sprayers earned special recognition at the EIMA show. The system automatically washes the sprayer to the specifications reqiored to meet the European Directives on sprayers. The system uses a series of electrically-operated valves, which cuts cleaning time and guarantees the correct sequence of washing. It also reduces water consumption. Visit www.caffini.com

Multi-tasking forage implement
The Gallignani machine is capable of swathing, reaping, pressing, tying and wrapping forage in one pass. The swathing is carried out by components in ascending motion to separate the forage from impurities. It is possible to carry out three operations simultaneously, in which swathing is integrated with the packaging and wrapping ones. The implement is attached to a tractor’s hydraulic system.

Orchard fans
Massive, colorful fans dotted the show floor.

Same Deutz-Fahr all-wheel drive
A new system for engaging all-wheel drive on the front axle controlled by a multiple disc clutch earned an honorable mention in the EIMA Technical Innovation contest. The System is operated electro-hydraulically by a proportional valve. The system also features a series of sensors to detect the speed difference between the two axles and a set of other operating parameters to determine when all-wheel drive should be automatically used.

Merlo telehandler with dynamic load control
The Merlo telehandler earned recognition at the show for two innovations: dynamic load control and a continuously variable transmission. The dynamic load control provides control of the machine’s lift stability. It automatically recognizes when a load is lifted unsafely and will alert the operator in the cab. The system limits the machine should incorrect operations be performed. The continuously variable transmission is equipped with two reduced-displacement hydraulic engines. One of the engines is mechanically disconnected from the shaft towards the wheels at higher speeds. This reduces fuel consumption.

On-the-go adjustable axle
The Italian sprayer manufacturer Bargam has designed an axle that allows on-the-go width changes to the axle, all directed from the cab. The new variable-width axle is available in two sizes, from 60 to 70 in. and from 70 in. to 85 in., both at center wheel. The sprayer must be moving when making the width change. An electronic control system is included to ensure safe operation.
Europe’s 2013 Tractor of the Year award went to the Deutz-Fahr Agrotron 7250 during Italy’s EIMA International Show. The tractor was on display along with other innovations that Same Deutz-Fahr was recognized for at the show. Other innovations recognized at EIMA included things like a nozzle wrench, automatic sprayer washing and on-the-go adjustable axle width.
