A major new farm show, organized by farm equipment manufacturers, will be held January 12 to 15, 2010. The new show is called Ag Connect Expo and is expected to draw 20,000 growers from around the world to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) announced that it is initiating the new expo to showcase the latest industry innovations, products and technology to the world. AEM made the announcement recently to farm editors attending the Agricultural Media Summit in Tampa, FL. Martin Richenhagen, president and CEO of AGCO Corporation, made the official announcement at the summit. He is 1st vice chairman of the AEM Board of Directors.

The Farm Equipment Manufacturers Association (FEMA) also announced its members’ support of the Ag Connect Expo. Bob Schnell, executive vice president of FEMA, spoke to the summit as well. (View the announcements from Richenhagen and Schnell at FIN TV.)

Charlie O’Brien, AEM vice president, Agricultural Services, explained that research with growers and other industry professionals indicated that they wanted a better venue to meet and discuss agriculture around the world. For that reason, education will be a major focus of the event. (View O’Brien’s comments in a video on FIN TV.)

In addition, a wide variety of new equipment, technology and services will be included in the Ag Connect Expo. The show organizers estimate that 700 exhibitors will sign up for the inaugural event in 2010. Exhibitors should include agricultural manufacturers such as AGCO, Case IH, John Deere, Krause, Krone, MacDon, McCormick and New Holland. The organizers also want other farm input providers, such as crop protection, fertilizer, and seed companies, to exhibit.

The first Ag Connect Expo will be held in 2010 and the second one will be held in 2011. After that, AEM says the event will be held every two years to better align with major farm shows in Europe.

AEM produces other major shows including one of the world’s largest construction exhibits called CONEXPO-CON/AGG. Visit Ag Connect Expo website for more information.
