Soybean Insecticide

Nov 1, 2006 12:00 PM

The U.S. EPA has registered Dow AgroSciences' Intrepid 2F insecticide for worm control in soybeans. The company describes Intrepid as an insect growth regulator effective against many species of lepidopteran insects. The insecticide's active ingredient mimics the natural insect molting hormone, inducing a premature molt of the larvae within hours of ingestion.

Residual activity of the insecticide lasts 14 days on treated foliage. It is applied at a rate of 4.0 to 8.0 fl. oz./acre on soybeans when first signs of feeding damage appear.
