FMC, BASF Collaborate

Two large chemical companies have signed agreements to allow each other access to certain products. FMC Corporation has agreed to give BASF access in the U.S. to proprietary insecticidal chemistry, zeta-cypermethrin. In return, BASF grants FMC access within the U.S. to two active ingredients, pendimethalin and imazethapyr.
BASF plans to sell its new insecticide called Respect that uses zeta-cypermethrin for control of insect pests on corn, soybeans, wheat and alfalfa. FMC will develop premix products with the two active ingredients for use in soybeans, sunflowers and tobacco.
