Grain drain ends buildup

The new Grain Drain, from May-Wes, keeps grain and dirt from building up in front of and behind the auger housing. Gaining good grain flow

The new inline drive portable auger from Mayrath is now available in a 12-in.-dia. size. The auger features a gearbox located inline with the actual auger flighting, allowing efficient grain flow around the box. The auger comes in sizes from 42 to 82 ft. with either an electric or PTO drive. A hydraulic lift undercarriage is standard on sizes 62 ft. and longer. Contact Mayrath, Dept. Ward off soybean fungi

A new fungicidal coating for soybeans helps the plants ward off several diseases during emergence.

As soybeans are planted earlier with no-till or reduced-till methods, they become more susceptible to soilborne fungi. According to Novartis, its Apron XL + Maxim seed treatment will help protect the plants from soilborne pathogens.

New seeds A large lineup of new seed varieties from Dekalb Genetics offers farmers many choices for their 1999 crop. The company releases 68 new seed products. It also announces the development of 24 Roundup Ready corn, YieldGard insect-protected corn and quality-trait corn products. Recently, it added another 44 seed products, including conventional, Roundup Ready and DekalBt corn hybrids. It also added a Roundup Ready/ YieldGard stacked-trait corn hybrid, two new high-oil corn hybrids, two waxy corn hybrids and a new white corn hybrid. All the hybrids have 80- to 119-day maturities.

Dekalb also developed 28 new soybean varieties from Group 0 to Group V. These varieties have traits ranging from Roundup Ready with and without cyst nematode resistance to Roundup Ready/STS stacked traits and cyst nematode resistance. Also developed is a STS variety and four non-trait varieties. Rounding out the company's line are a new sorghum hybrid and a high oleic sunflower hybrid. Contact Dekalb, Dept.
