New label
Dow AgroSciences has issued a Section 2(ee) supplemental label that allows post applications of Callisto herbicide following Lorsban 15G at-plant treatments. Dow says the two products will not interact to cause crop injury. Dow representatives are saying Lorsban 15G and Force 3G are not systemic insecticides, as is Counter 20CR. Therefore, Lorsban 15G and Force 3G react differently in the corn plant. Counter 20CR has been shown in numerous research studies to interact with herbicides and injure corn.
Plant 'em early
Nitragin Company has released a two-strain liquid soybean inoculant called Cell-Tech Soybean. The company claims its product increases yield by improving early-season nodulation and nitrogen fixation in cool soils. The product is available in a 50-unit size (2,500 lbs.) or a 200-unit size (10,000 lbs.).
Price is about $1.50/acre. In return for that investment, the company says you can expect an average yield increase of 3 bu./acre on rotated corn/soybean ground.

New adjuvants
Several new adjuvants from Helena Chemical Company may help growers improve the performance of their spray applications:
AccuQuest WM deposition agent and liquid ammonium sulfate (AMS) is designed for glyphosate and other post-applied herbicides. The company used a blend of polymers, water conditioners and defoaming agents in a water-based solution of ammoniacal nitrogen. The adjuvant helps form droplets that stay on the plant to improve performance and reduce drift.
LineMan improves the performance of glyphosate and other pesticides by enhancing uptake and increasing coverage. The adjuvant is compatible with low-pH-sensitive pesticides while also being compatible with AMS.
Drop Zone LC is an oil-based liquid concentrate that is 100% active and compatible with glyphosate and many other pesticides. It reduces the chance of crop injury with its non-phytotoxic oil component.
The first nutritional adjuvant on the market, On Line provides foliar feeding with deposition and drift reduction, according to Helena. The liquid foliar feed concentrate is combined with adjuvants that also offer water conditioning, glyphosate absorption, defoaming and evaporation reduction.

Bayer, Dow market herbicides
Dow AgroSciences and Bayer CropSciences will be jointly promoting corn herbicides. The products included in this agreement for preemerge control include Dow's acetochlor brands, Keystone, Keystone LA, FulTime, TopNotch and Surpass herbicides and Bayer's Balance Pro herbicide. The companies expect the combination of the herbicides to offer growers one-pass weed control. Products in the postemerge program include a combination of Dow's Hornet WDG and Bayer's Option.
