Pioneer unveils drought-tolerant hybrids

Pioneer unveils 8 new drought-tolerant corn hybrids

Producers will have 8 new drought-tolerant hybrids available across five genetic platforms from Pioneer for 2011.

The new hybrids, which will be marketed under the Optimum AQUAmax brand name (previously announced as Drought Tolerant 1 hybrids) , contain a collection of native corn traits that improve water access and utilization, and the company says the hybrids showed a 5 percent yield advantage, on average, over leading commercially available competitor and other Pioneer brand hybrids.

The company says availability of these new hybrids will be limited for the 2011 growing season, and will be targeted to growers in the western Corn Belt. Expect additional product offerings, in an expanded geographical region, in the coming years.
