Images of global agriculture
On the Edge by Howard Buffett is a unique coffee-table book that conveys the importance of agriculture in our global society. A businessman and photographer, Buffett is chairman of the board at The GSI Group and operates an 800-acre farm in central Illinois. He spent 10 years photographing agriculture and wildlife around the world and compiled the best in this stunning, 338-page book. Buffett has written interesting text to accompany the photos.
“I produced the book because I believe the American public, government officials, and our own industry must view agriculture differently,” Buffett writes. “We face a huge challenge in this new century — feeding a growing population and preserving our most valuable ecological assets. Without proper appreciation of U.S. agriculture and the critical role it plays in meeting these challenges, we may fail on both accounts.”
