John Deere says its new Automated Crop Reporting Process is a simple, accurate way to track field data and report it to the government for crop insurance purposes.
“John Deere is integrating precision farming system technology with our crop insurance processing software to deliver more efficient governmental farm program reporting solutions to producers,” says Don Preusser, president, John Deere Insurance.
Automated Crop Reporting works through GPS field-documenting systems like GreenStar. A grower uses GreenStar to document planting and harvest. Then the grower can load the data from GreenStar to field-mapping software like Apex.
Next, the grower uses the Internet service called GSDNet to send the information from Apex to a John Deere crop insurance agent. The agent uses the information to prepare the reports needed to certify acres with the Farm Service Agency.
The Automated Crop Reporting Process is compatible with other systems besides GreenStar and Apex. The automated reports should help reduce data entry errors and save growers time.
