Peterson Farms Seed in Harwood, North Dakota supplies corn and soybean seed and conducts replicated testing on a network of testing plots.
Soybean harvest

Peterson Farms Seed reported on Oct. 9 that nearly all of the soybean harvest was completed in southeast North Dakota.
RR2Y soybeans

The company's new RR2Y soybean varieties were reported as solid, steady performers in fields this year.
Corn harvest

The corn harvest is about 75-80% complete as of Oct. 9 at Peterson Farms.
Dry corn

The company reports that the majority of the corn has a very low moisture content, ranging from about 12-15%.
New hybrids

The company's newest hybrids have been performing well this year.
Weak stalks

The soybean harvest is nearly 100% complete, and now, finishing up the corn harvest is at the top of the company's agenda.
Good yields

While the drought has affected some spots in Peterson fields, the company reports that yields are better than average this year.
Dry

The company reported that this was the second year in a row in which they harvested a dryer than normal corn seed crop.
Ziegler

Early harvest

The weather forced the company to harvest early and quickly this year.
Work to be done this fall

Post-harvest challenges for Peterson Farms due to the dry soil include fall tillage and NH3 fertilizer application.
