Carbon credit contracts open

Dec 7, 2007 2:37 PM

Growers may now apply for five-year carbon credits with AgraGate Climate Credits Corp. The 2008-2012 contract is for cropland farmed with continuous no-till or strip-till practices, or with new grass plantings since Jan. 1, 1999. The contract has a bonus provision for operators who used the conservation practices in 2007.

AgraGate collects carbon credits from farmers and ranchers, assembles them into large bundles and then sells them on the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX). AgraGate is a subsidiary of the Iowa Farm Bureau. For information on the cropland soils contracts, call AgraGate at 866/633-6758, or visit www.agragate.com.
