Trimble has added new features to its Farm Works Surface software that allow for automated drainage pipe sizing.
Trimble announced that it’s enhancing the company’s Farm Works Surface Software by adding automatic drainage pipe sizing. The feature will help farmers or contractors to design more accurate farm drainage systems.
Farm Works Surface work with Trimble’s WM-Drain farm drainage solution and offers analysis and design tools. The new feature recommends drainage pipe sizes for system designs and can also estimate the cost required for a project. And the designs can be importated to in-field drainage equipment for automated installation using the Trimble FmX display.
Trimble said the benefits of automatic pipe sizing include:
- Designing an efficient drainage system to remove excess water from the soil in order to enhance crop yield
- Decreasing errors with a simplified design process that eliminates manual calculation
- Achieving cost savings by ensuring the correct size of pipe is installed in the right place in the field
